Spring is the perfect time to refresh your home with light, simple updates. These tips from Southerly Abode show how small changes can make your space feel fresh, inviting, and ready for the season.

Easy Ways to Refresh Your Home for Spring

Spring is the perfect time to breathe new life into your home, and no one does that better than Tiffany Anich of Southerly Abode Interiors — a top interior design firm in Chattanooga. As the days grow longer and the weather begins to warm, Tiffany shares her favorite seasonal design tips for creating a home that feels fresh, bright, and inviting. “You don’t need a full makeover,” she says. “Just a few thoughtful changes can completely transform the mood of your space.”

Here are some of my favorite ways to refresh a space for spring:

 1. Bring in Fresh Greens

Nothing says spring like fresh greenery. Swap out winter florals for lush eucalyptus, delicate branches, or potted herbs. I love placing a simple glass vase with cut stems on a kitchen island or console table—it instantly brightens the room and adds a natural touch.

 2. Layer in Light Textiles

Spring calls for lighter, airier textures that instantly refresh your space. Swap out heavy throws and dark pillows for breathable cotton or linen in soft neutrals or pastel tones. A few thoughtfully chosen accents—like sage green or dusty rose throw pillows—can give your living room a whole new feel. Updating your bedding with crisp white or light linen sheets is another simple way to transition your bedroom for the season.

 3. Add Subtle Pops of Color

Spring is all about soft, inviting color palettes. Try adding hints of blush, green, pale blue, or buttery yellow through throw pillows, art, or even a simple ceramic vase. Keep it understated and balanced with plenty of natural textures to avoid overwhelming the space.

 4. Update Your Entryway

Your entryway sets the tone for the whole house. A new doormat, a fresh coat of paint on the door, or a simple woven basket for shoes and bags can make a big difference. I love adding a small vase of seasonal flowers to create a welcoming first impression.

 5. Let in the Light

Embrace natural light by switching out heavy drapes for sheer curtains. If privacy isn’t a concern, try leaving windows bare to maximize the light. Clean windows and mirrors will help reflect more light throughout the room, making the whole space feel open and airy.

Spring is about creating a sense of renewal, and refreshing your home doesn’t have to be complicated. With a few small updates, you can create a space that feels light, bright, and ready for the season ahead. 🌸
